Safari de Peaugres is more than just a Zoo. It is a zoo and safari park where you can partly enter with your car to get up close and personal with animals who roam around freely. On the safari car trail you will be able to see bears, zebras, antelopes and gnus amongst others. They can of course walk around your car, so keep your windows closed! 😊 When we were there we had bears walking around our car and the children really loved observing them from so close by.
Once you have done the safari car trail, you can park your car and enter the rest of the zoo by foot, and it is a really beautiful zoo! All the well-known animals are to be observed here, and there are plenty of playgrounds around. Near the exit of the zoo is one very big elephant shaped playground with nice slides. The kids will not want to leave!
Safari the Peaugres is at 2,5 hours by car from Geneva. Check out their website for opening hours: http://www.safari-peaugres.com/
We stayed overnight in a beautiful hotel close by with a very good on-site restaurant. This hotel lies on the shore of a beautiful lake. Click here for the hotel.
Before heading back home on the next day, we took the short detour to visit the Palais Idéal du Facteur Cheval. You can read all about that here.
Another place you could visit the next day is what we did on our second trip to Peaugres: the town of Vienne with it’s very beautiful Roman museum. Their website: www.musees-gallo-romains.com. Vienne is approximately 45 minutes by car.
